Ilfracombe to Woolacombe
Welcome to the Ilfracombe to Woolacombe stretch of the South West Coast Path, a journey that will take you along the rugged coast of North Devon, offering splendid views of the Bristol Channel and the Atlantic Ocean. Starting Point: Ilfracombe

Be sure to check out the striking modern sculpture, Verity, by Damien Hirst, which stands guard over the harbour. The official start of this section of the South West Coast Path is at the harbour car park.

Hele Bay (1.5 miles from Ilfracombe)
Leaving Ilfracombe, the path climbs steeply to the Torrs, offering breathtaking views of the town and harbour below. You'll then descend into the sheltered cove of Hele Bay, a lovely spot for a rest or even a quick dip if the weather is favourable.
Facilities: Public toilets and a café are available at Hele Bay.
Watermouth Cove (4 miles from Ilfracombe)
From Hele Bay, the path climbs again, offering spectacular sea views before descending into Watermouth Cove. This peaceful bay is a wonderful place to take a breather and enjoy the serene surroundings.
Facilities: There are no direct facilities on the path at Watermouth Cove, so be sure to pack any essentials.
Combe Martin (6.5 miles from Ilfracombe)
Continuing along the path, you'll pass through the tiny settlement of Berrynarbor before reaching the larger village of Combe Martin. Known for its silver mines in the past, Combe Martin now attracts visitors with its charming beach and wildlife-rich surrounding hills.
Facilities: Combe Martin has good facilities including public toilets, pubs, cafes and shops.
End Point: Woolacombe
The final stretch of this route takes you through undulating countryside before descending into the popular seaside town of Woolacombe, renowned for its long, sandy beach and vibrant surf culture. After completing this stretch of the South West Coast Path, treat yourself to a well-deserved rest in one of the many beachside cafes or pubs.
