Your adventure begins in the coastal village of Bigbury-on-Sea. It's well worth exploring the village before you set out, perhaps even taking a detour to Burgh Island, a tidal island famed for its Art Deco hotel. Once you've soaked up the scenery, head west along the coast path.
Ayrmer Cove (3 miles from Bigbury-on-Sea)
Heading west, the path soon delivers you to the secluded beauty of Ayrmer Cove. This small, rocky beach is the perfect place to rest and take in the tranquillity. If you're lucky, you might spot seals bobbing in the water.
Ringmore and Kingston (5 miles from Bigbury-on-Sea)
Emerging from the woodland, you'll pass through the charming villages of Ringmore and Kingston. Here, you'll find thatched cottages, quaint pubs and a chance to take a break. Be sure to visit the 13th-century All Hallows Church in Ringmore if you have time.
Wonwell Beach and The Erme Estuary (9 miles from Bigbury-on-Sea)
Continuing along the coast, you'll soon reach Wonwell Beach and the Erme Estuary. This is one of the few places along the path where you may need to plan your walk in accordance with the tides as it can be impassable at high tide.
East Soar (13 miles from Bigbury-on-Sea)
Heading onwards, you'll pass through the rugged beauty of East Soar, with its rolling hills and spectacular views. If you're in need of refreshment, the East Soar Outdoor Experience has a unique 'Walker's Hut' offering drinks and snacks.
Salcombe (17 miles from Bigbury-on-Sea)
The final stretch brings you into Salcombe, a vibrant harbour town known for its sailing and stunning scenery. It's the perfect place to relax after your long walk, with plenty of pubs, restaurants and cafes to choose from.
