Starting Point: Portwrinkle

Begin your adventure in the peaceful coastal village of Portwrinkle. With its quaint cottages and two sandy beaches, it's a charming place to start your walk. The South West Coast Path picks up just beyond the village's harbour. Make sure to visit the local cafe for a cup of coffee and a Cornish pasty before you set off.

Note: There are public toilets available in Portwrinkle near the car park.

Whitsand Bay (2.5 miles from Portwrinkle)

Your first major landmark is the stunning Whitsand Bay, a 5-mile stretch of sandy beach backed by dramatic cliffs. The path here can be steep and challenging, but the views are more than worth it. Look out for surfers catching waves in the bay below.

Facilities: There are no facilities along this stretch of the path, so be sure to bring your own water and snacks.

Tregonhawke Cliff (4 miles from Portwrinkle)

As you continue along the path, you'll pass the high point of Tregonhawke Cliff. From here, you have stunning views across Whitsand Bay and out to the English Channel. Take some time to admire the view and catch your breath - you've earned it!

Rame Head (7.5 miles from Portwrinkle)

Finally, you'll reach your destination, Rame Head. This iconic headland is topped by a 14th-century chapel dedicated to St Michael. The chapel is usually open to the public, and climbing up to it offers an incredible, panoramic view of the surrounding coastline. It's a fitting end to a challenging but rewarding walk.

Facilities: There are no facilities at Rame Head, so plan ahead. The nearest amenities are in Kingsand, a short drive away.
