Starting Point: Combe Martin
Begin your journey in the picturesque village of Combe Martin, boasting one of the longest high streets in Britain. Take a wander around the village, perhaps visiting the Combe Martin Museum or taking a peek at the Pack o' Cards Inn, a pub built to resemble a deck of cards. Your walk officially starts at the western end of the village, near the car park.
Newberry Beach (1 mile from Combe Martin)
Heading out of Combe Martin, the path initially follows a gentle ascent through lush woodland before opening onto the pebbly Newberry Beach, a peaceful spot perfect for a picnic or a quick rest. Look out for the intriguing two-story beach hut, a local landmark.
Facilities: Public toilets are available near the beach, and you'll find a cafe and shops back in Combe Martin.
Lester Point (2 miles from Combe Martin)
The trail then rises to Lester Point, from where you'll enjoy panoramic views of Combe Martin Bay. Take a moment here to soak in the vista - on a clear day, you can even spot Wales across the Bristol Channel.
Facilities: None at Lester Point, so be sure to bring your own food and water.
Watermouth Cove (3 miles from Combe Martin)
The path dips down to Watermouth Cove, a beautiful harbour with a small beach. The cove is dominated by Watermouth Castle, a Victorian country house turned into a family attraction with gardens, mazes and a museum. It’s worth a detour if you have time.
Facilities: There are public toilets and a cafe at Watermouth Castle, but there is an entrance fee for the castle grounds.
Hele Bay (4 miles from Combe Martin)
From Watermouth, the path climbs steeply before descending to Hele Bay, a delightful sandy beach. This is a great spot for a breather, or even a dip if you're feeling brave! The tiny 16th-century corn mill in the village is worth a visit too.

Capstone Point and Ilfracombe (5 miles from Combe Martin)
The final stretch takes you up to Capstone Point, offering stunning views over Ilfracombe and the Bristol Channel. Descend into Ilfracombe, a vibrant town with a bustling harbour, and take a well-earned rest at one of the many cafes, or explore the town's attractions, including the famous Verity statue by Damien Hirst.
Facilities: Ilfracombe has a wide range of amenities, including shops, cafes, pubs and public toilets.
