Starting Point: The Lizard
Before you embark on your trek, take a moment to explore The Lizard, a charming village known for its colourful fishing boats, traditional Cornish pasty shops, and the red and white striped Lizard Lighthouse. The actual start of the South West Coast Path is at Lizard Point, a short walk from the village centre, where you can view the lighthouse, enjoy a hot drink at the Polpeor Café, and visit the small heritage centre.
Kynance Cove (2 miles from The Lizard)
Your first stop is the spectacular Kynance Cove, famed for its turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, and distinctive serpentine rock formations. It's a steep descent down to the beach, but the views are well worth it. The café here serves refreshments and boasts a wonderful view of the cove.

Predannack Cliffs (4 miles from The Lizard)
Leaving Kynance Cove, you enter a National Nature Reserve and a haven for wildlife. The path is undulating and challenging, but the views are breathtaking. Look out for rare plants, seabirds, and if you’re lucky, Cornish choughs, a species of crow that has made a comeback in the area.

Soapy Cove (6 miles from The Lizard)
This little-known gem, tucked away in the folds of the coast, is your next stop. Characterised by its steep cliffs and rocky beach, Soapy Cove is a tranquil spot to rest and soak up the raw beauty of the coastal landscape.

Final Stretch: Chynalls Point and Arrival in Coverack (10 miles)
The path continues northward, passing Chynalls Point and then descending into Coverack. This charming village is a postcard-perfect end to your walk, with its harbour filled with colourful fishing boats, a sandy beach, and a range of eateries where you can celebrate your successful journey.
Facilities: Coverack has several amenities including pubs, cafés, public toilets, and shops.
Points to Remember
Terrain: This section is a mix of grassy paths, rocky tracks and beach trails, with numerous steep sections. Good walking boots are essential.
Facilities: Limited between The Lizard and Coverack, so carry water and snacks.
Weather: Coastal weather can change quickly – bring layers and a waterproof jacket.
