Starting Point: Penzance
Kickstart your journey in the vibrant harbour town of Penzance, with its enchanting blend of past and present. Make sure to visit the Penlee House Gallery and Museum to get a glimpse of Cornwall's rich artistic heritage before you set off. The South West Coast Path officially begins at the train station, guiding you out of town and along the seafront promenade.

Penzance Harbour (0.5 miles from Penzance)
Walking along the promenade, you’ll soon reach Penzance Harbour, with its lively mix of fishing boats, sailboats, and ferries setting off for the Isles of Scilly. Take a moment to appreciate the stunning views across Mount's Bay before continuing your journey.

Facilities: Plenty of shops, cafes, and toilets around the harbour area.

Eastern Green Beach (1.5 miles from Penzance)
The coastal path takes you past the Penzance heliport and onto the sandy Eastern Green Beach. This is a great spot to pause for a picnic or just enjoy the views. Look out for the art deco Jubilee Pool as you leave the beach area.

Facilities: Public toilets are available at the beach. There’s also a cafe nearby.

Longrock (2 miles from Penzance)
The trail continues through the peaceful village of Longrock, offering stunning views of St Michael’s Mount. The beach here is a favourite with locals and a great place to stop for a breather.

Marazion Marsh (2.5 miles from Penzance)
You'll then pass through Marazion Marsh, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, home to a variety of bird species. Don’t forget your binoculars!

Facilities: None, so ensure you're well-stocked with water and snacks.

Final Stretch: Marazion (3.5 miles)
The final stretch of the path brings you into the historic town of Marazion, the gateway to the enchanting St Michael’s Mount. This tidal island can be reached by a causeway at low tide, or by ferry when the tide is in. Take the time to explore the medieval castle and subtropical gardens before ending your journey with a well-earned Cornish pasty or cream tea.

Facilities: Marazion has plenty of amenities, including cafes, pubs, public toilets and shops.

Points to Remember
Terrain: This section is mostly flat with a few gentle inclines. Comfortable walking shoes should suffice.
Facilities: Available at the start and end points, as well as Longrock. Limited facilities at Eastern Green Beach and none at Marazion Marsh.
Weather: The coastal weather can be changeable – bring layers and a waterproof jacket.
