Starting Point: Clovelly
Begin your adventure in the quaint village of Clovelly, a car-free haven of cobbled streets and whitewashed cottages. After exploring the village, head west to meet the coastal path.
Note: There’s an entrance fee to enter Clovelly village itself, but the coastal path skirts around it if you prefer to bypass it.
Higher Clovelly (1 mile from Clovelly)
A gentle walk through woodland brings you to Higher Clovelly, a peaceful spot perfect for a picnic. From here, the path descends to Mouth Mill Cove, a secluded beach with a dramatic rock arch.
Facilities: No facilities here – carry your own supplies.
St Catherine’s Tor (3 miles from Clovelly)
Prepare for some challenging climbs as you leave Mouth Mill Cove. Your hard work is rewarded with breathtaking views from St Catherine’s Tor, especially during sunset.

Hartland Point (7 miles from Clovelly)
As the path twists and turns along the rugged cliffs, you’ll reach Hartland Point, a landmark known for its lighthouse and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s a great place to spot seabirds, seals and, if you’re lucky, dolphins.
Facilities: There's a café at Hartland Point, perfect for a quick refreshment break.
Final Stretch: Stoke and Arrival in Hartland Quay (12 miles)
The final stretch of your journey takes you over the dramatic cliff-tops of Stoke, before descending into Hartland Quay. This former harbour is now a haven for walkers, with its shipwreck museum, pub, and stunning views of the coastline. It’s the perfect place to celebrate the end of your walk.
Facilities: Hartland Quay has a pub, museum, and public toilets.
